Do all to the glory of God.

— I Corinthians 10:31

To help strengthen self-discipline, teamwork, and godly leadership, MCS offers a variety of interscholastic sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball/softball, cheerleading) at a variety of levels depending on student interest and availability. Our full-size gymnasium houses two locker rooms, a concession area, bleachers, and fitness room.

Coaches and players agree: playing volleyball at MCS offers more significant benefits than being named an All-Star or winning a conference banner. “Our coaches really care about us—on and off the court—and while they are teaching us to improve our volleyball skills, we learn valuable life lessons and develop meaningful friendships that last long after the season ends.” —former Volleyball Ohio Christian Athletic Conference (OCAC) All-Star

Soccer

The 2015 varsity soccer team placed 2nd at the Buckeye Christian School Association state tournament this year. Coached by Dan Hixson and Steve Sivic, the team was challenged to “get control, keep your head up and play”. The seniors were challenged to be leaders and set the tone for practices and games. The team was directed this year to Psalm 1:1-2 that, beyond soccer, our focus should be on God’s glory and His Word.

Basketball

All kinds of studies have been done which demonstrate the benefits of participating in a team sport. The reasons are numerous: increased academic performance, working well with others, working toward common goals, teamwork, physical fitness, having fun, the 3 P’s (persistence, patience, practice), leadership skills, time management, creativity in finding ways to improve, skills for handling pressure, responsibility for individual performance, etc.

All these things are great but why do we do this at Mentor Christian School? For the only reason that is needed … “To Glorify God”.

Being a part of the MCS Team enables us an opportunity to Glorify God through our example to those not on the team, younger students looking up to us, fans, friends, and family members both that have a relationship with Jesus as their Savior and those that don’t, teachers, opposing teams, opposing teams’ fans, game officials, etc.

As 2 Corinthians 5:20 tells us “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us”.
